Mumbai, May 3: Special judge M.L. Tahiliyani pronounced lone surviving 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Aamir Kasab guilty on almost all the 86 charges against him in a Mumbai courtroom packed to the rafters on Monday. The maximum punishment Kasab can get is death.

Hyderabad, May 3: The Hyderabad police on Monday caught a Lashkar-e-Tayyaba operative who it claimed was planning to carry out attacks in crowded city areas to coincide with the verdict in the Ajmal Kasab case in Mumbai.

New Delhi, May 3: Union home minister P. Chidambaram said Monday that Ajmal Kasab’s conviction for the 26/11 terror attack was “a clear message to Pakistan that it should not export terror to India”. He added: “If they (Pakistan) do, and if the terrorists are apprehended, we will bring them to justice and give them exemplary punishment.”

Srinagar, May 2: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday detained a local youth who reportedly sent out an email after getting phone calls from across the border.
It is suspected this might have contributed to the warnings issued by the United States and some other governments to their citizens advising them to avoid certain crowded Delhi marketplaces over the weekend as these could be the target of “imminent” terror strikes.
