Police remand for two MHA officials
New Delhi, April 29: The CBI on Thursday formally arrested two senior home ministry officials booked earlier on corruption charges. Both officials have been remanded to police custody. A 1983-batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer, O. Ravi, joint secretary (disaster management) in the ministry, allegedly took a bribe in connection with a Rs 340-crore excise duty evasion scam.

BJP withdraws support to Soren in J’khand
New Delhi, April 28: A “betrayed” BJP on Wednesday decided to withdraw support to the four-month-old Shibu Soren-led coalition government in Jharkhand. The move, triggered because of Mr Soren voting against the cut motion moved by the BJP in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, has led to political instability in the state, which could possibly be looking at a long spell of President’s Rule.
