Police remand for two MHA officials
New Delhi, April 29: The CBI on Thursday formally arrested two senior home ministry officials booked earlier on corruption charges. Both officials have been remanded to police custody. A 1983-batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer, O. Ravi, joint secretary (disaster management) in the ministry, allegedly took a bribe in connection with a Rs 340-crore excise duty evasion scam.
Another officer, R.S. Sharma, of director rank, who belongs to the Indian Railway and Engineering Services, is also accused of corruption in the purchase of bulletproof jackets for the paramilitary forces. He was held with R.K. Gupta, owner of a private firm, and his wife Laveena Gupta.
