A power cut forced state health minister Suryakanta Mishra to give his speech without the microphone at a programme in R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital (RGKMCH) on Tuesday. This left the medical college authorities red-faced.

A Maoist was arrested from Nowda in Murshidabad who was involved in the twin killings that occurred on July 6. It may be recalled that two persons Saidul Islam ,45 and Meher Sheikh, 50, were gunned down near their Dudhsora residences in Murshidabad after being branded as “police informers.”
