Maoist leader held in Murshidabad
A Maoist was arrested from Nowda in Murshidabad who was involved in the twin killings that occurred on July 6. It may be recalled that two persons Saidul Islam ,45 and Meher Sheikh, 50, were gunned down near their Dudhsora residences in Murshidabad after being branded as “police informers.”
The arrested Maoist had been active in and around Murshidabad since 2001. “The person identified as Prajamuddin Biswas alias Bintu had been actively involved in the Maoist activities in Murshidabad since 2001. He was mainly engaged in spreading the mass base of the Maoists,” said SP Murshidabad B.L. Meena. Sources revealed that Binta was arrested from Kedharchadpur village under the jurisdiction of Nowda police station area. On being produced in the court, he was remanded to 10 days’ police custody.
