Young India gets foreign platform

Dance is a medium of expression, a form in which we can explain all our feeling and desires. This expression is incomplete if we are inhibited or have hesitation inside us when we dance or perform.

Dance knows no boundaries

Dance is one art form that indeed brings people together. It doesn’t limit itself to age, region, sex or shape and size. Dance speaks only one language, and that is of expression and togetherness. I was a witness to this last week when my dance studio organised our annual student dance day.

A dance break is good enough to refresh

It is a well-established fact that India is going to be the next superpower. It is among the most developing nations in the world. India has everything going for her, right from excellent opportunities, good infrastructure, good quality education, to diverse culture and hospitable people.

Latin music, ballroom dancing, salsa, bachata, Son, Guagira are fairly new dance concepts in India. We are quite used to the Bhangara and Dandiya beats all the time and these international beats and music is not so commonly heard in our country. Even our night clubs and films are dominated by bollywood and Indi Pop beats.

When I was just a novice in the dancing scene, I thought as soon as I lapped up a few more moves and took a few more classes, I would be a pretty good dancer. I tried to go to every class possible, thinking that I was just a few classes away from being the best dancer.

In dance what attracts more attention than the dance steps, are the jumps the dancer takes. In the dance vocabulary, these are called “leaps”. They are one of the greatest thrills in dance not just for the dancer, but also for the audience. Professional dancers appear to defy gravity as they soar through the air and fall down with grace and style.
