Dancing opens window to soul
When we want to know about somebody’s character or nature, many of us go to tarot card readers, astrologers, face readers and other such experts. But have you ever realised that watching someone very carefully when they dance can tell you a lot about the person? By observing people dance, one can sometimes judge their character far better than a tarot reader.
The luxury of astrologers isn’t available in western countries, where almost every person is a part of some form of dance. People believe that by looking at a person dance, one can gauge their personality and even their temperament and attitude to life. But how true is that really? Is dance really a reflection of one’s personality? Or is it just another way of bringing people to dance classes and promoting dance and dance classes in a new manner?
I have been observing thousands of students for a long time now and I believe dance is indeed a reflection of one’s personality. Watching people dance can tell you a lot about them.
To me seeing people dance is like a daily routine, but it is probably the extreme and wild personalities that are interesting to watch because they offer a brave and energetic performance. The quieter ones also have their advantages of stability and consistency. The wild one will probably practise whenever he wants, not on a regular basis. One needs to constantly work with them to improve their personality and habits. You need to be highly consistent in whatever you are occupied with, because without these qualities, it is impossible to achieve anything big.
The idea is to improve your dancing by improving your personality and training the qualities needed for a specific thing. People who are passive, closed and held back are unfortunately not interesting to look at on the dance floor. I do not know a single high-level dancer, even from the top 24 in the world, who would be like this. They are quiet people, but they have some kind of consistency which is their inner strength.
I would put the dancers in the following categories:
A flamboyant dancer: This is someone who loves to show off, is confident, sometimes overconfident, can change his or her mind often depending on what suits him.
An energetic dancer: This is someone who is confident, stable and has the zest to carry on in life without stopping.
A slow dancer: These people are often lazy, prefer to be dependent on people all the time to help them and do their work for them. They also do not like to think much about the problems in life and would rather be happy in their own world without interference.
A loose dancer: This is someone who is not too interested in the details that life has to offer, someone who can be pretty careless in life.
A conscious dancer: This is someone always worried about what the world has to say and feel about them; their thoughts and way of life are ruled by the society.
A cautious dancer: This person is very careful of not hurting people’s feeling and lives his life trying to make everyone around happy. Such people are happy when they make others, not themselves, happy.
An observant dancer: This is someone very dedicated and sincere, always anxious to get it right and always tries his best not to make mistakes in life; for such people, life should be picture perfect and they do not mind working towards it either.
An expressive dancer: This person is very emotional. Little things touch their heart and they make important decisions from their heart, not the head.
Such observations can only be made after a person has danced for many years and has the experience. Next time you see people dancing and you aren’t in a mood to join them on the floor, sit back, put on your thinking cap and try to judge their personalities. It’s a great way to understand people.
