Govt plans to empanel architects
The Delhi government is planning to draft the new Municipal Corporation of Delhi Act in six months through which it intends to end the inspector raj in sanction of building plans. The new law, which will replace the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957, will enforce time-bound completion of development work.
Pranab hints at end of stimulus package
The Union finance minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, on Tuesday indicated that there would be a further roll back of the stimulus package as there are positive signs of economic growth not only in GDP but also in international trade. Both exports and imports in the non-oil sector (chemical goods) registered a positive growth for six consecutive months since November.
City MLA gets 3-yr jail for attempt to murder
Delhi MLA Dayanand Chandila, who represents Rajouri Garden Assembly seat, his son Megh Raj Chandila and two supporters were on Tuesday sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment by a Delhi court for attempting to kill a person following a dispute relating to money lending nearly seven years ago. The court, however, granted them bail.
Spectrum proceeds hit Rs 1 lakh cr
The revenue from the auctions of spectrum on Tuesday crossed the Rs 1 lakh crore-mark. The success of auctions of 3G and wireless broadband (BWA) spectrum has crossed government estimates, which intially stood at Rs 35,000 crore.
MCD seals mall at Metro station
The MCD on Tuesday sealed the mall operating out of the Inderlok station of the Delhi Metro saying it did not have any prior approval. The DMRC called the action unilateral and a “contempt of court” because they were restrainment orders from the judicial as well as administrative authorities.

14-yr boy hangs self in S. Delhi
A 14-year-old Class 8 student committed suicide at his south Delhi residence on Tuesday afternoon.
Police officials said the incident took place at around 12.50 pm on Tuesday in Saket area.
