14-yr boy hangs self in S. Delhi
A 14-year-old Class 8 student committed suicide at his south Delhi residence on Tuesday afternoon.
Police officials said the incident took place at around 12.50 pm on Tuesday in Saket area.
The deceased, identified as Rohan was found hanging from the ceiling of the fifth floor of his 280-A, F block, Lado Sarai residence by his mother who had gone to ask him for lunch. She immediately alerted the police control room.
Rohan was immediately rushed to Max Hospital first and later shifted to AIIMS where doctors declared him brought dead.
His post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS after which his body was handed over to his family.
Police sources revealed that the deceased was barred from playing with his friends allegedly by his mother on Tuesday afternoon.
“Initial investigations have revealed that his mother had directed him to finish his homework first and then go out when Rohan returned home on Tuesday afternoon. However, he went to his room and bolted it. After some time, when his mother went up to ask him for lunch, Rohan didn’t respond to repeated knockings on the door. When she peeped through the keyhole, she saw Rohan hanging from the ceiling,” a senior police official said.
The police said the Rohan’s father, Mangay Ram works as a security assistant with the Intelligence Bureau.
“We have not recovered any suicide note from the spot or on the person of the deceased and a case has been registered at the Saket police station. Further investigations are underway in the case,” the official said.
