Dig it: Man Vs Wild
Lost and stranded on a desert island, in the heart of a forest. How would you survive? Bear Grylls, host of Discovery Channel’s Man vs Wild, shows you how. The show features Bear dropped off to the remotest locations in the wild and left on his own. He finds his way back to civilisation using the barest of materials (a knife, water bottle, clothes on his back, parachute chord, etc.)
Along his journey from the heart of wilderness, back to civilisation, he encounters many hardships and challenges involving finding food and shelter. Being a former army serviceman, Bear uses his training and skills to show you how to survive.
His narration throughout the show is very engaging and keeps you hooked. He takes on dangerous travel routes that I wouldn’t face even with safety gear! I initially thought some of the scenes were rigged, but I was wrong; the dangers he faces are real.
I love watching the show just to see my dad react to Bears’ diet (LOL). Bear eats anything that moves: frogs, snakes, lizards, fish, rabbits and more. And at times, these are eaten raw. The look of horror on my dad’s face is priceless!
Bear gives the best survival tips and teaches you how to fend for yourself and how to look out for signs of civilisation. The show is brilliantly hosted and the camera work is cool too. Whether you’re planning a trip outdoors into the wild (or not), the things you learn on Man vs Wild will come in handy.
