With ever-increasing prices and endless shopping lists, youngsters these days keep a tab of their monthly expenditures these days to save the woes of an empty wallet. Many have unique ways of saving money and ensure they have a reasonable amount saved for unforeseen expenses.
Pooja Vasant, a student says, “I save the money I get on birthdays. As I am not much of a shopaholic, I prefer saving my cash.” Recalling a tactic she earlier used, she says, “I collected all the coins I used to get when travelling by bus and now I have around four hundred rupees all from that saving.”
Another college goer P. Sai finds it a little hard to save up on cash. He says, “As most of my savings are spent on travel, I find it hard to save up for other things. But I do save by watching fewer movies and eat out less.”
Students living away from home in hostels tend to spend a lot more on rent and travel. The usual movies and evenings out with friends are added expenditures they save up for. Nandini Upadhyay, a student says, “I resort to shopping at cheaper places and travelling by bus instead of rickshaws when I fall short of cash.”
