Taliban behead 2 Sikhs in Pak, more captive

Peshawar/Islamabad ,Feb. 21: Two Sikhs who were kidnapped over a month back have been beheaded by the Pakistani Taliban in the country’s restive tribal belt in a brutal act by the militants. Some more members of the  minority community are still in the custody of the rebels.

After Saran, top climate negotiator to quit too

New Delhi ,Feb. 21: Two days after Mr Shyam Saran announced his resignation as the Prime Minister’s special envoy on climate change, one of the country’s top climate change negotiators, retired diplomat Chandrashekhar Dasgupta, said he was dissociating himself from all future climate change negotiations.
Mr Dasgupta, a former ambassador to China and the European Union and a key member of the Indian team at last December’s Copenhagen summit, is considered to be close to Mr Saran.

Delhi advises Assam: Get CBI to probe Cachar scam

Guwahati ,Feb. 21: The Centre is learnt to have advised the Assam government to ask the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe the multi-crore scam in North Cahcar Hills district after the National Investigation Agency found evidence of massive misappropriation of Central funds by a politician-bureaucrat nexus in the region.
The Union home ministry is understood to have written to Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on the matter, Union home secretary G.K. Pillai confirmed on Sunday.

Using a combination of traditional medicine, modern chemistry and computer science, a team at the Indian Institute of Science discovered that a herbal extract can not only delay the progress of Alzheimer’s disease, but even reverse memory impairment.
