Words wise

Words create impressions, images and expectations that build psychological connections. They influence how we think and since our thoughts determine our actions, there’s a powerful connection between the words we use and the results we get. There are two ways in which we can manifest our thoughts. One way is through our actions and the other way is through our words.

In both instances we take our words out of the mental realm and place them in the physical realm — the realm of the senses. To turn a thought into something recognised by the senses is an act of creation. Therefore, it is important for us to remember that each time we speak, each time we utter a word, we create. These creations, our words, can manifest either good or bad. The choice of our verbal creation is entirely up to us.
Words have the energy to create profound physical changes in us when we accept them and endow them with power to manifest the reality they intend to represent.
Words can be either blissful or dangerous beyond belief. Happiness, wisdom, crime, health and even poverty — have their roots in the way we believe; and the way we believe leads directly to the way we behave. We spend our entire existence being programmed or resisting programming, and struggling against the effect words have on us, at every level. Words trigger concepts, ideas, memories, situations, actions, thoughts and feelings from one’s subconscious mind into the corresponding emotional response. Words manipulate people into becoming tools others can use. So, we should make efforts to unplug the hooks of words to avoid being programmed by not exposing ourselves to the information overload.
Life is a constant pull between positive and negative powers created by words used by us and people around us. It’s easy to say, “I give up” than it is to say, “I will fight this with everything I have”. If we follow up a rude or insulting comment with the phrase, “I was joking”, does it not count to the person we said it to?
Choose words carefully and calmly. Do not choose them in haste or when in anger or pain. Always think before you speak because words can not be retraced, they will manifest the energy they are carrying and create something good or bad. By living and thinking negative thoughts, we draw these vibrations to us. Remove “I can’t”, “I don’t”, “I won’t” from your life and replace them with “I can”, “I do”, “I will”.
When a thought enters our mind there are three things we can do with it — we can dismiss it, we can allow it to linger, or we can act on it. Once we act upon a thought by verbalising it, the word becomes a living entity which can develop into either our best friend or our worst enemy and can also create karmic rewards or karmic debts.
Our words determine who we are, who we will be. When used with care, they can change the world around us.
Choose to use your words to bless, encourage and uplift. Choose them with wisdom and love.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
