Sarah, Angad’s jodi to sparkle

Even though television is looked upon as small fry, when compared to its big brother Bollywood, it is not easy to find stardom here, because the competition is usually triple-fold. While most actors disappear within a week of their serials going on air, the few others who manage to make a name have to face several challenges on a daily basis just to keep their heads above water. Among them is actor Angad Hasija, who is currently enjoying being in a happy place but is not one to get swayed by success.
“It’s not easy to stick around in the television industry. There are new shows being made and new actors being launched on a daily basis, so being the best is not enough. With all the extra hours that actors put in, they are also striving to get noticed,” says Angad. The actor’s entry in the hit serial Ram Milaye Jodi is earning him rave reviews. It was on popular demand that he had to step on board the serial that also stars Sarah Khan and the chemistry between the two has always been a talking point in the inner circles of the industry. “Sarah and I began our careers together. While most co-stars in other shows are busy having affairs with each other, we have been sincerely working on our characters and there is no possibility of getting involved with her,” Angad says.
“Even when I was married, our on-screen pairing was a hit. It’s all about the timing we share on screen. I am looking forward to a long association with the makers of this serial,” he continues.
But does an actor feel guilty of replacing someone on the show? “I have not replaced anyone,” Angad replies promptly, adding, “In fact my entry on the show was according to the requirement of the story, so there is no guilt.” Although he had made quite a splash with the reality show Nach Ke Dikha, Angad has steered away from reality shows.
“I am not interested in shows like Bigg Boss, I might consider it when I plan to retire,” he laughs. Stand-up comedy is not his forte either. “I cannot make a career out of ridiculing myself or anyone else.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
