Health in your hands

The study of palmistry is deciphering the meaning of lines and mounts on the palm that can be a rewarding experience along the life path for in-depth personal understanding. One should note down many things like temperature, colour, texture, and musculature of the hand for a reading along with the lines and mounts. All of these, when studied together, can give you a good idea of the basic state of a person’s health. The editorial of Journal of American Medical Association writes, “The human hand is a unique organ from where an extraordinary amount of clinical information may be derived”.
The palms should be pinkish in colour. Pale skin and pale creases can mean that the person is in an extremely worrisome situation or else lacks iron. Yellowish hands can mean a liver disease. A person with cold hands may have circulatory problems, and if the hands are both cold and damp, the person may be worried or suffering from insomnia. With very cold hands, look for a bluish colour on the nails that signifies poor circulation. Hands that are warm and bluish also indicate poor circulation and pulmonary problems. Very red skin on the hands can mean circulatory problems that include high blood pressure or diabetes. Dry and rough skin is a warning of an under active thyroid, while smooth and satiny hands show an overactive thyroid, so do soft and pudgy fingers.
Arthritis and knuckles: Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis are indicated on the hands by the enlargement of the first (topmost) knuckle on the fingers. The knuckle will begin to enlarge long before the appearance of physical symptoms of arthritis. The part of the body affected is indicated by a knuckle enlargement of the corresponding finger: index — hips and lower back; middle — knees; ring — legs and feet; baby — neck and upper back.
Glandular imbalances: Imbalances in the glands can be identified from lines on the fingertips. Strong diagonal lines or the “grille” formation on any fingertip reveals a glandular problem, the deeper the lines, the more severe the condition. Each fingertip relates to a different gland as follows: index fingertip — pituitary gland; middle fingertip — adrenal glands; ring fingertip — thymus gland; baby fingertip — thyroid gland.
Observe the signs in both the palms. If the signs match in both the hands, it indicates the sensitivity of that person towards that health issue. It does not mean presence of that particular disease — it may act like a warning.
The fewer lines appear on your palm, the more balanced, peaceful, and healthy you are.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
