Police claim Maoist involvement in nun murder
Police on Sunday claimed involvement of Maoists in the killing of Sister Valsha John and arrested seven persons in connection with the incident.
"In all, there were 45 people, who had surrounded her house with 30 of them being Maoists," Inspector General of Police (Santhal Pargana) Arun Kumar Oraon told a press conference here.
The 30 Maoists, including the banned outfit’s self-styled area commander Ramesh Soren, belonged to Ramlal Rai’s firing squad, he said.
All the seven persons arrested during the day were detained on Saturday, he said.
Valsha made three calls in that dreaded night with one traced to her associate Sonia Deheri before she was hacked to death on November 8, he said.
