Munda, Soren guard MLAs with food and hope

As they waited for Jharkhand governor M.O.H. Farooq to invite BJP leader Arjun Munda to form a government in the state, legislators of the BJP, JMM, AJSU and JD(U) merrily shared their newfound optimism over breakfast, luncheon and dinner parties in Ranchi on Wednesday.
A day after Mr Munda staked claim to form a government in the state, which has been under President’s Rule since June 2, he and JMM supremo Sibu Soren busied themselves in trying to keep MLAs of their two leading parties together in the critical hours before the governor’s invitation.
The BJP leader, currently an MP, accompanied his party’s 18 MLAs at a grand breakfast meeting hosted by Mr Soren at his residence, where the JMM’s 18 MLAs and others from the two other smaller constituent parties also gathered.
While Mr Munda then hosted an elaborate lunch for all the 45 MLAs willing to support a government under his leadership, Mr Soren invited him and all these MLAs to a dinner at his residence in the evening. Mr Soren’s son and leader of the JMM Legislature Party, Hemant Soren, who is set to be one of the two deputy chief ministers, said, “These meetings over food today is a way of sending a strong message that we are very much together and ready to form a government under Arjun Munda.”
Mr Munda waxed eloquent about his government rising over the past bitterness between the BJP and the JMM during the last government under Mr Soren that had lasted just four months.

The Union Cabinet is expected to take a decision on revocation of President’s Rule in Jharkhand on Thursday. In Jharkhand, the BJP has staked claim to form government with JMM support. A proposal of the home ministry to recommend to the President the lifting of President’s Rule from Jharkhand will be placed before the Cabinet meeting.
The Cabinet meet is also expected to take up the home ministry’s proposal to conduct an “independent’’ caste census exercise next year. Government sources said that the caste census will be done using new forms.

Unprincipled politicians!

Unprincipled politicians! Only a few months ago, the BJP withdrew power from Sibu Soren when he ditched the BJP and voted for the UPA in the Vote of Confidence. Now, they have patched up.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
