A girl student of class VIII was allegedly stripped and searched by a teacher on the charges of stealing money at a school in Gopalnagar in North 24 Parganas district.
The girl's father Pabitra Mondal lodged an FIR on Friday alleging that the teacher Rupali Dey of Gopalnagar Giribala Balika Vidyalaya took his daughter to the staff room and stripped and searched her on July 11, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jayanta Mukherjee said.
The teacher had accused the student of stealing money from her classmate, he said. Asked if the money was found, the SDPO replied that it was being investigated.
Mukherjee said a case under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage modesty) and section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC was lodged against the teacher.

If this was the case the teachers should all face firm discipline. Such conduct is making India a joke in the world.
