President’s police medals awarded

Additional DG (law and order) S.A. Huda, Octopus IG N.V. Surendra Babu and additional DG (road safety) Satyanarayan were awarded the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service on the occasion of Independence Day this year. Police Medals for meritorious service were declared for Greyhounds DIG Shankhabrata Bagchi, Anantapur DIG Charu Sinha, SIB SP T. Prabhakara Rao, Balanagar DCP P. Pramod Kumar, Guntur SP J. Satyanarayana and Tirupati SP J. Prabhakar Rao.

Two Railway Protection Force inspectors, B. Satish Prabhu, working with the Special Intelligence Branch of South Central Railway, and M. Janardhan Chowdary, inspector of Kacheguda Railway Station, have been awarded Indian Police Medals. Mr Prabhu had played an important role in detecting the Gautami Express sabotage in 1995. While on deputation with the CBI, he had been involved in many high-profile cases including the passport forgery case of Abu Salem and Monica Bedi. Meanwhile Police Medals for gallantry were given to sub-inspector V. Shiva Kumar, junior commandos A. Prabhu, N. Anil Kumar and N Ramoji Naik.
