Undertrial assaulted in Rohini Jail

An undertrial on Saturday approached the Tis Hazari Court chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) Vinod Yadav, accusing the superintendent of Rohini Jail and certain other officials of torturing him at the behest of Romesh Sharma, an alleged frontman of mafia don Dawood Ibrahim.

The undertrial, Satpal Bedi, who is lodged in the Rohini Jail, appeared before the CMM’s court and sought action against the prison officials, who had allegedly tortured him.
“The jail superintendent, the ward in-charge and other inmates assaulted me in the jail. I have burn injuries on my back,” Bedi told the CMM.
After hearing Bedi’s plea, the CMM ordered his medical examination which confirmed the injuries of the undertrial.
The undertrial alleged that earlier, he was lodged in the high-security Tihar Jail and got himself shifted to the Rohini prison after being harassed by certain associates of Romesh Sharma.
