Milkmen thrash passengers, Mob pelts stones
More than two dozen people, including four policemen, suffered injuries after a mob pelted stones at a train at the Nangloi Railway Station on Friday morning.
A senior police official said the injured were undergoing treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The police has lodged two separate FIRs. A police source said a dozen people were detained in this connection.
The police reportedly resorted to lathicharge to bring the mob under control.
Meanwhile, a police source said a call about the incident was received around 7.45 am and a team each from the Nangloi police station and the Aman Vihar police station reached the spot but failed to pacify the mob. The CISF was then called in.
According to sources, milkmen used to beat passengers. They threatened to throw passengers off train if they did not vacate seats.
“Today morning, they boarded the train from Rohtak and asked the passengers to vacate seats. Few passengers objected and were thrashed. One of the passengers made calls to his friends and told them that milkmen had thrashed him. His friends and area residents gathered at the railway station. The victims who were thrashed pulled the chain. The mob started pelting stone at the train,” said the police source.
The source said the angry mob went on rampage for at least one hour and tried to set the train on fire.
