Journalists demand CBI probe

Strongly condemning the murder of veteran crime reporter Jyotirmoy Dey, journalists of Delhi on Tuesday demanded strict action against the killers. The Press Club of Delhi has organised a condolence to the deceased journalist Dey, who was gunned down by unidentified assailants in the heart of the financial capital.

Journalists from TV channels and newspapers attended the condolence meeting. Senior journalist Ashutosh, Dibang and Prabhu Chawla also attended the condolence.
All the journalists condemned the killing and demanded a CBI probe for the case. “We condemn the killing. All the reporters, who do their jobs fairly, create problems for the corrupt people and bureaucrats. If such incidents happen with journalists, then the government should take strong steps to avoid such incidents in future. Dey was not the only reporter who wrote such stories that shook the nation and resulted in transfers and suspensions of many sleuths. There are journalists’ among us who did such stories and that’s our job. We can’t write in fear of death. We demand a CBI inquiry,” said senior journalist Ashutosh.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
