Monorail cell to get experts soon
With the bidding process nearing completion for the monorail scheme for Chennai city, the nodal agency for the project, MTC, has now set the ball in motion to recruit experts for the monorail cell, on the lines of metro rail.
Sources in the government told DC that they were in the process of recruiting experts in the related field to assist the implementation of the Rs 8, 500 crore project.
“Presently, there are no staff in the monorail cell, except the project director, who is also the managing director of the MTC.
“We have now initiated steps to recruit staff for monorail cell on administration and technical fronts.
The cell requires people for the posts of principal chief engineer (construction), principal chief engineer (electrical, telecommunication and rolling stock) posts with a minimum of 22 years experience in railway construction besides a few other requisites.
The MTC has also invited applications for the posts of a general manager (admin), with a minimum 15 years of experience in HR and administration activities, besides for the post of a chief financial officer. “This apart, an IAS officer is also likely to head the cell,” they said.
