Crime records bureau seeks hacking probe

The state crime record bureau on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the cyber crime cell of the city police seeking a probe into the alleged hacking of the Tamil Nadu police website by Anonymous India and the posting of the online complaints file on its Facebook page.

“We are conducting an internal probe. We had also lodged a complaint with the city police,” said Ashish Bhengra, additional director general of police, state crime record bureau on Tuesday.

Many people who lodged their complaints with the police online are upset that the TN police website was hacked and that their petitions have posted on Facebook.

“I never expected my complaint to get posted on social networking site. I thought the police would keep it confidential,” a man from Tirunelveli told Deccan Chronicle when the paper contacted him based on details pasted on the Facebook page of Anonymous India.

Many petitioners asked for more police personnel in their area. Some wanted solutions for civil disputes and some even wanted the police to settle their family issues.
