Times Now gets no SC relief in Rs 100 crore defamation suit
In a setback to Times Now television channel, the Supreme Court on Monday declined to interfere with an interim order of the Bombay high court that directed the Times Global Broadcasting Co. Ltd. to deposit `20 crore in cash and `80 crore as bank guarantee in the court in a defamation suit filed by the former Supreme Court judge P.B. Sawant, claiming `100 crore as damages.
Bengal panchayat polls today
The five-phase panchayat polls begin with the election in three districts: Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapore on Thursday. A large number of seats in the first-phase fall in the sensitive Jangalmahal area, therefore most of the booths have been declared sensitive and hyper-sensitive. Girl raped & killed, cops say dogs did it
A 5-year-old was raped and murdered by an unidentified person in the early hours of Tuesday. Her body was found the following morning in Vivek Khand locality in Gomti Nagar area by morning walkers, about 500 metres from the girl’s house, with dogs sniffing around it.
