Girl raped & killed, cops say dogs did it
A 5-year-old was raped and murdered by an unidentified person in the early hours of Tuesday. Her body was found the following morning in Vivek Khand locality in Gomti Nagar area by morning walkers, about 500 metres from the girl’s house, with dogs sniffing around it.
The police immediately threw up the theory that the girl had been attacked and bitten to death by the stray dogs. The cops claimed that the girl had come out of her house to relieve herself when she was attacked by dogs.
The police had no answer as to why a small girl would walk 500 metres to relieve herself in the dead of the night.
The post-mortem report that came in late on Tuesday night, however, debunks the police theory. The report states that the girl had been sexually abused and stabbed brutally multiple times.
A total of about 60 wounds, eight of them deep, were found on the victim’s body. Her private parts were found totally ruptured and lacerated.
A doctor, who was part of the five-member panel that conducted autopsy, said dog bites were not found on the victim’s body. “Such a murder can be committed only by a drug addict or psychopath. It seems the assailant was deriving some kind of sadistic pleasure by inflicting wounds on the child,” the doctor said.
Over 50 incised wounds (sharp cut-like injuries) were found on the body, including on the private parts and face besides eight stab wounds (deep injuries) on different parts of the body. The child died of shock and excessive blood loss (hemorrhage), the report mentioned.
The severe stabs damaged her left kidney and there was deep laceration on the chest.
SSP Lucknow, J. Ravinder Goud, admitted on Wednesday that the Gomti Nagar police had handled the case in an inept manner.
“The case will be re-examined and action will be initiated against erring officials. It is clear that the cops had mounted pressure on the mother to change the complaint and blame dogs for her kid’s death,” he said.
Meanwhile, the girl was cremated on Tuesday evening after two vaginal swab samples and nail cuttings were preserved for DNA sampling of the assailant.
