Devoleena not in Nach

Devoleena Bhattacharjee, aka Gopi from Saathiya has been in the news of late for allegedly planning to participate in Nach Baliye with co-star Vishal Singh. There has also been speculation about whether or not they are indeed a couple. Devoleena, when contacted, dismissed it as a figment of someone’s imagination. “I am neither dating Vishal not Mohd Nazim. I am single. At first I used to feel awkward hearing such rumours about myself but now I am okay thinking that someone is keeping themselves busy creating rumours about me.”
While Devoleena is clearly enjoying playing Gopi, she says she has no qualms about playing a mother onscreen. “I have played all kinds of roles be it a sister, lover so this is another role for me. We recently shot this lovely scene where Ahem and I communicate through Meera — I thought that was beautiful.”
While Gopi may be quiet and simple, Devoleena describes herself as mastikhor. “I love to laugh and keep the environment around me positive. Our directors say there are two kids on the sets — one is my onscreen daughter Meera and the other is me,” she says with a smile.
The actress gets nostalgic as she recalls her growing up years in Assam. She says, “I miss my house and the gardens where we used to grow our own fruits and vegetable. We never needed to purchase food from the market. I miss gardening and whenever the caretaker calls to inform about us about fruits and vegetables that have grown, I feel so jealous.”
Speaking about her other favourite places, she says, “I love visiting Marine Drive after the shoot and just relaxing while gazing at the view. If I have some more time I like visiting Lonavala. I normally dress in shorts or jeans but while travelling in the interiors, I prefer salwar kameez. As far as accessories are concerned, I love shopping for earrings and bracelets.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
