Anu gears up to judge Idol Junior
Anu Malik, who was in the judges’ panel of Indian Idol for six seasons, will now return to be a part of Indian Idol Junior. “What I like about this show is that its format is a unique one and it’s only for children. It’s completely different from the previous shows,” says the composer.
Anu says that for him the channel (Sony Entertainment Television) is like family. “One day I get a call from Sneha Rajani who’s the business head. She told me to come and shoot for one episode. I agreed even though my schedule was choc-a-bloc. These people are like family to me. My daughter Anmol was a part of this show earlier. I don’t get the time to follow the show regularly now, but from what I have seen I can say for sure that the children are very talented,” he says.
The composer also made an appearance on Comedy Nights With Kapil recently. Speaking about the show, Anu says, “This comedy show is great. It was Kapil’s idea that I judge the contestants on the show. I hadn’t planned as to how it would all turn out. I sang too on a few occasions and that was not part of the original plan either. But it was fun.”
Besides small screen commitments, Anu has a lot coming up in Bollywood too, which includes J.P. Dutta’s Border 2. “One day J.P. Dutta just called me to say that I would be composing for Border 2. In his signature style he said, ‘Hi Anu, we’re on’.” He also has a few other film projects in hand but says it’s too early to talk about them.
