Sania crashes out of doubles as well
Jan. 19: Sania Mirza’s campaign in the Australian Open tennis got over Wednesday when she and her Czech partner Renata Voracova lost in the first round of the women’s doubles event here. Sania and Voracova went down to top seeds Gisela Dulko of Argentina and Flavia Pennetta of Italy 4-6, 1-6.
Sania is already out of contention in the singles, losing in the first round to 11th-seeded Belgian Justine Henin. Sania and Voracova served five double faults compared to Dulko and Pennetta’s two. Also, the break point conversion rate of the pair of Sania and Voracova was almost half of that of their opponents. While the latter converted 46 per cent of their break points, Sania and her partner managed just 20 per cent.
