Roger Federer, Andy Murray into US Open last 16

Top seed Roger Federer reached the US Open fourth round on Saturday with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 win over Spanish 25th seed Fernando Verdasco.

Federer, the five-time champion in New York, next faces either American 23rd seed Mardy Fish or Gilles Simon, the French 16th seed, for a place in the quarter-finals.

London Olympic champion Andy Murray also advanced to the fourth round with a 7-6 (7/5), 7-6 (7/5), 4-6, 7-6 (7/4) victory over Spanish 30th seed Feliciano Lopez.

British third seed Murray will next face the winner of a later match between American James Blake and 15th-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic.
