Serbia’s Novak Djokovic throws his shirt into the stands after winning the US Open men's singles final against Spain's Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3/7), 6-1 in New York on Monday. The win also brought Djokovic, now just the sixth man to win three Grand Slams in the same year, close to John McEnroe’s 1984 record of 82 wins against just three defeats. — AP
