Becks to star for Galaxy in match vs Jets

Melbourne, Nov. 22 : Former England football star David Beckham has been named in the LA Galaxy squad to play A-League side Newcastle Jets on November 27.

According to Fox Sports, Beckham has been named in the Galaxy’s 22-man squad scheduled to arrive in Australia on Thursday morning, despite suffering from a groin strain which hobbled him during the club’s MLS Western Conference Final.

Joining him is US football star Donovan and Edson Buddle, the striker who scored two first-half goals and terrorised the Socceroos’ defence in the Americans’ 3-1 friendly win in June during the World Cup build up.

There had been concerns about Beckham’s fitness for the Jets encounter following the Galaxy’s humiliating 0-3 loss to FC Dallas to bow out of the MLS playoffs.
