How to handle your first meeting with an ex
After a break-up, we all daydream and invent a flawless first run-in with our ex. However, most of us know that no matter what, it will be an intimidating and uncomfortable situation. Glamour.com gives a few tips on how to get through the awkward reunion in style.
1 Don’t be caught off-guard: Have a few easy conversation starters in mind. Try not to bring up too many stories of the past, or you might sound like you’re still into him. Be prepared with a few topics to talk about.
2 Be confident: Keep reminding yourself of all the great things you have been doing without him — even try to slip in some of these tidbits to the conversation.
3 Remember why you broke up: It’s easy to let lust and your emotions get the best of you. Consider whether or not you really want to get yourself in that situation again. It may not be the best for you.
4 Don’t go on and on about your new guy: If you broke it off with him, definitely don’t rub your new beau in his face. If he asks whether or not you’re dating, simply tell him things are going fine and move on to a new topic. Whether you are both over each other or not, talking about new relationships is never a comfortable conversation.
5 Don’t drink too much: Sure, to many of us, it may seem like the easiest thing to do. But even if you tell yourself before you go out that you’re over him, sometimes a little bit of alcohol in us will make us change our minds — temporarily.
