Teenaged Jake ready to join Wolverhampton
London, Aug. 17: Highly-thought of Welsh teenage striker Jake Cassidy secured a permanent move to English Premier League side Wolverhampton on Tuesday from Welsh Premier League club Airbus after he impressed on trial.
The 17-year-old — who had not played a single match for Airbus since he joined them from Llandudno Junction — signed a two year contract with the option of another year after an undisclosed fee was agreed.
Cassidy convinced Wolves manager Mick McCarthy that he was worth gambling on after scoring seven goals in pre-season friendlies and will be inducted into their development squad. “We are always looking for young players and Jake fits the bill so we are delighted he is here,” said Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey.
Cassidy for his part thanked Airbus for giving him the chance to play in the Welsh League but said it was impossible to turn down an offer of joining an EPL side.
