Sailesh revs it up
Sailesh Bolisetti, who made it to the podium on his debut at the British GT at Oulton Park in England recently, now wants to bag top honours in the prestigious Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM), a German Touring Car Racing Championship.
“I want to be a trendsetter in the country by winning the DTM, an international touring car racing as competitive as the Formula One racing. I will concentrate on practice after the completion of the on-going British GT championship,” Sailesh said. The 23-year-old, a B.Tech graduate in Computer Science, said that he always wanted to participate in motorsport championships since his college days.
Sailesh first spoke about his dream with his father B. Satyannarayana, a Visakhapat-nam-based businessman, while travelling to Chennai in a car. In the company of Radha Selvarajan, a Chennai-based car racer, Sailesh learnt the nuances of saloon car racing.
Sailesh soon began to participate in various racing championships, including the JK National Racing Championships in 2008. “I secured podium finishes on the Indian circuit and in 2011, I went to Germany to participate in my first international championship. I finished 15th in that event,” Sailesh recalled.
“During my stint in Germany, the Lotus Sports Car team gave me the opportunity to represent them at the British GT4 and that was the turning point in my career. There was no looking back,” he said.
“My second position finish in the first round of the event has boosted my confidence. The second round of the championship is scheduled to commence from May 17, and the seven-leg season will end on September 28,” Sailesh added.
