Button quickest in first free practice

Defending drivers’ champion Jenson Button topped the times in Friday’s opening free practice ahead of Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver, chasing his second win of the season, posted a time of one minute 18.127 seconds ahead of seven-time champion Michael Schumacher of Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton was third quickest in the second McLaren followed by German Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes.
Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel of Germany was fifth fastest ahead of pole Robert Kubica of Renault in sixth.
Spaniard Fernando Alonso was seventh quickest for Ferrari followed by Vitantonio Liuzzi of Force India in eighth. Williams drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Rubens Barichello were ninth and tenth fastest respectively. Drivers’ championship leader Australian Mark Webber was down in 14th, over a second slower than his Red Bull teammate.
