Bengaluru races cancelled
The first two days of the Bengaluru summer meeting races have been cancelled due to agitation by the Karnataka Racehorse Owners Association and Karnataka Trainers Association.
As no entries were put by the trainers on Wednesday for the weekend races, the BTC had decided to cancel the races due to paucity of entries.
The KROA and KTA are on a war path with BTC over cut in stake money and incentives, the clubs refusals to pay the rents for the two-year-old horses stabled at Lumbini Stud Farm and reduction of credit period for basic training fees from three months to one month.
The club on its part has said they made this move due to unavoidable circumstances. The club is hoping to accumulate about Rs 3 core towards its contingency fund by this measure.
There have been a series of meetings to resolve the issue but very little progress has been made until Wednesday.
The Bangalore summer season is the most eagerly awaited one as racing in other major centers is suspended due to the scorching heat.
