Australia’s Twenty20 side has moved away from the traditional green and gold colours to wear black uniforms this summer.
The Aussies unveiled the new uniforms in Sydney on Tuesday, which is surely going to raise eyebrows in New Zealand, who traditionally wear an all black uniform.
Skipper Cameron White paraded the outfit at the Bondi Junction Westfield, complete with a green and gold trim more resembling the Jamaican national colours than the traditional Australian look.
Australia’s new one-day and Test uniforms were also unveiled, although those changes are not nearly as extreme, Fox Sports reports.
The preferred one-day outfit retains the canary yellow, while the alternative strip is green. The only change to the Test uniform is the logo on the sleeve of the new apparel sponsor, Asics.
White, who leads the Twenty20 squad to South Africa on Saturday for two games on October 13 and 16, highlighted the benefit of black being a ‘slimming’ colour.
The Australians will play two Twenty20, three one-day and two Test matches against South Africa starting in mid-October.
