Just a day after being named one of the most sought after Bollywood actors where endorsements are concerned, Ranbir Kapoor has now turned down a rather lucrative deal, in a move that is seen as spelling out that he knows just how much he’s worth. The Kapoor scion had been offered `5 crore to be the brand ambassador for an electronics giant. But unfortunately, it seems no amount of money will tempt Ranbir to take up this particular offer.
“Ranbir has suddenly become aware that he seems to have done something right in terms of projecting his image through the products he endorses,” says a senior trade source. “He recognises that Brand Ranbir stands for certain things. So he turned it down.”
Some naysayers have said that Ranbir’s refusal may simply be down to ahem…an inflated sense of self worth after all the critical acclaim his first look for Rockstar has generated.
But his aides denied this. “Ranbir’s refusal had nothing to do with holding out for more. If he felt the brand’s positioning was in line with his own image, then money would not have been an issue,” says a friend. “He is hardworking and values his succcess, and this deal could have set him back.”
