The police has asked for footage from over 700 hotels across the city that may give vital clues of the bombers in the Delhi high court blast case. The Delhi police may make it mandatory for the shopping malls to install CCTV cameras.
The Delhi police has ordered the hotels in the city to bring footage that they can analyse it.
Meanwhile, the Delhi police held a meeting with the officials of National Intelligence Agency. Though the sources have denied any breakthrough but the officials chalked out strategy for further investigation.
Also, installing CCTV in shopping malls in the city is going to become mandatory.
According to sources, police commissioner B.K. Gupta will write to the mall authorities invoking relevant sections of Delhi Police Act which will make installation of CCTVs mandatory.
The move comes against the backdrop of an email threatening to blow up a shopping mall in the city.
The police has already stepped up security across the city following the blast at Delhi high court which claimed 13 lives and left 75 people injured.
A senior police official said the force is on high alert and they have intensified patrolling and checking at shopping malls, markets and other crowded places.
“We have asked shopping mall operators to step up their security. More checkings will be done,” the official said.
The shopping mall operators are being periodically briefed about the security arrangements they should make, he said.
The police is also writing to the CISF director general and the Railway Board chairman to ensure that CCTVs are installed outside Metro and railway stations.
