The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed a motion to impeach Justice Soumitra Sen of the Calcutta High Court by a majority of 172 votes.
Of the 207 members present in the house, 189 voted in favour of the motion, while 17 voted against it. One MP abstained.
This is the first time the Rajya Sabha has passed an impeachment motion.
