Uffo! Talk about an item number and you immediately have references to “Munni” and “Sheila” being thrown at you. And so it was, that the minute the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif item number in Bodyguard was announced, there were all sorts of speculations about whether the song would be a Westernised one (a la Sheila Ki Jawani) or a rustically charming one (like Munni Badnaam Hui). To add to the confusion were reports that Sallu bhai himself would be sporting a James Bondesque avatar in the song.
But director Atul Agnihotri has rubbished all the talk surrounding the song. “Arre, there is no Sheila-Munni business here!” he says. “This is just a fun song. Salman is wearing a black suit in the number, but that is in keeping with his bodyguard image in the film.”
A source from the sets also tells us, “Himesh Reshammiya wanted to ensure that his reconciliation with bhai had a worthy commemoration. So he has created a very Indian song with festive beats.”
