The metropolitan fire brigade in Melbourne has urged men to be more careful while dealing with stainless steel washers and rings, and not risk getting them stuck on their penises.
The warning came after a fire truck attended the Werribee Mercy Hospital in Melbourne to remove the metal ring from a distressed man's appendage at 2.30am.
Several emergency services sources said these types of call outs were common.
“Washes on penises and rings stuck on penises we get once or twice a year, the Daily Telegraph quoted MFB commander Peter Egan as saying.
“In my 39 years I have seen about half a dozen of them.
“People do stupid things,” he added.
