Superstar Aamir Khan came all the way to the capital to clear the air with artists Sumir Tagra and Jiten Thukral about, believe it or not, the phrase “DK Bose”.
The duo had actually taken a legal course to sue the actor for “copyright infringement” of their “creative expression” BoseDK, something they have been using in their works for over a decade now. But Aamir chose to calm the duo in a press conference in the city recently. “I acknowledge that ‘BoseDK’ is their label and we have no claim on it. Our song is ‘DK Bose’, and it also lays no claims over it,” he said.
That was actually enough to pacify the artists, who were only looking for a public acknowledgement, and no monetary compensations. “We are glad that Aamir showed concern after we visited his home. He spent ten hours with us, listening to our case,” says Tagra.
But then why did the artists wake up on the issue this late as the edgy Delhi Belly song has been on air for past two months, much before the release of the film this Friday?
“We didn’t catch it as we were travelling on work to Italy, Germany and Paris. Yes, we got messages from friends about the issue, but we didn’t take it seriously then. Once we got back we realised that this usage of our ‘phrase’ did not augur well for us,” Tagra adds.
“But now, we are convinced with the way Aamir handled the matter and will withdraw the law suit,” the artists added.
