Two pistols used in killing chief medical officer B.P. Singh have been recovered and the links of arrested shooters with deputy chief medical officer Y.S. Sachan have been established digitally through their call records, a senior official said on Sunday.
The pistols were recovered from three persons — R.K. Verma, Vinod Sharma and Anand Tiwari — arrested by the STF on June 17, Cabinet secretary Sahashank Shekhar Singh told reporters here.
He said Verma was a friend of Sachan on whose direction he hired two shooters to kill the CMO, with whom the Deputy CMO had some enmity due departmental rivalry.
The pistols and shells recovered from the spot of crime matched as per the forensic report and call details of the trio from February were analysed and their link with Sachan was digitally established, Mr Singh said.
Besides, location of the three arrested has been established, he said, adding the four voice recordings have also been found to corroborate the fact.
During investigation, the name of a person, Saurabh Khanna, who helped Sachan by giving him money has also come to the fore, he said.
The trio earlier gave important inputs about the murder of another CMO, Vinod Arya, who was killed on October 27 last year.
Sachan was the main accused in the murder of Singh, who was shot dead by unidentified persons on April 2. Sachan was found murdered inside district jail hospital on June 22 under mysterious circumstances.

New Delhi, Dhaka discuss Krishna’s visit

July 3: Senior diplomats of India and Bangladesh met in Dhaka on Sunday to discuss external affairs minister S.M. Krishna’s upcoming visit to the country, even as both sides sought to play down the reported comments of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
“I don’t think there is any necessity to issue a statement on the reported remarks (of PM Singh) after clarification made by Indian external affairs ministry on the matter,” Bangladesh foreign secretary Mijarul Quayes said.
The Bangladesh foreign secretary, however, said that Indian high commissioner Rajit Mitter met him on Sunday under a fixed schedule to discuss the upcoming visit of Indian external affairs minister S.M. Krishna. Asked if the issue of Singh’s comments came up during the discussion with Mr Mitter, he said, “I’m neither confirming nor rejecting, but we discussed in detail the preparation of planned visit of minister Krishna.”
In New Delhi, an official spokesperson in the MEA termed as “speculative” reports of Mr Mitter being summoned. “Our high commissioner will be meeting the foreign secretary to discuss the visit,” the spokesperson said.
Mr Krishna is scheduled to visit to Bangladesh beginning July 6, during which he is expected to raise key regional and bilateral issues with the leadership of that country. —PTI
