[1]US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has said that her proposed visit to Pakistan depends on progress of on-going talks with Islamabad and response to the questions raised after the killing of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.
"Well, we'll see how the conversations go," Clinton told Katie Couric of CBS News when asked when she is going to Pakistan.
Senator John Kerry, chairman of the Senate foreign relations committee, following his trip to Pakistan had said that Clinton would soon travel to the country for substantial dialogue.
The special US representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mark Grossman, is currently travelling to Pakistan to hold talks with the Pakistani leadership and seeking answers from them on the questions raised and concerns post Bin Laden.
"Marc Grossman, my special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan, is there now, following up on some of the areas of concern," Clinton said.
The secretary of state reiterated that she has not seen any evidence that the top Pakistani leadership knew about the presence of Bin Laden inside Pakistan, but it seems that someone knew about it in Pakistan.
"We believe that it was not proven that anybody at the top of the government in Pakistan knew where Bin Laden was, but it seems likely that somebody did know," Clinton said.
"I said that the first time I went to Pakistan. I said, "It's hard to believe that somebody in your government somewhere — and it could be some very low-level person — doesn’t know where he is. And we're having very candid conversations with our Pakistani partners," she said.
