[1]Prince William and his new wife Kate settle back down to normal life on Tuesday at their secluded home in Wales as he returns to work as a helicopter pilot before they take their honeymoon.
The new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were returning to Anglesey, northwest Wales, where William was to resume his day job as a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force (RAF), royal sources said. Life back on the rural island will seem a world away from Friday’s fairytale wedding, which was watched by an estimated one million people on the streets of London and two billion on television around the world.
“They will be returning to Anglesey this week and the duke will be going back to work at RAF Valley,” said a spokeswoman for Clarence House, the office of William’s father Prince Charles.
Though William is serving in the RAF, he is the honorary colonel of the Irish Guards army regiment and surprised many by choosing to get married in their scarlet tunic uniform.
The newlyweds spent a short private break in Britain, having flown out of Buckingham Palace by helicopter on Saturday afternoon. Clarence House said it would not be announcing where they had spent the weekend.
The couple chose not to depart immediately for their honeymoon — details of which will not be announced in advance — though royal officials have said it will be abroad. The newlyweds “planned the honeymoon together”, Clarence House said.
While the couple’s honeymoon dates will not be released, they are due to visit Canada from June 30 to July 8 for their first official overseas visit.
The tour will include Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and the capital Ottawa.
