After the furore in Malawi, pop icon Madonna is now being investigated by the FBI over another charity she chairs, Success for Kids. The educational charity is being probed by the FBI for 'several irregularities and suspicious activity', reported New York Post online.
It is not clear the extent to which Madonna is involved in the investigation but she has donated USD 671,000 to the organisation since it was founded in 2001 and has also persuaded a string of celebrity friends to give generously.
The development comes a week after it emerged that the 52-year-old had to scrap plans to build a school in Malawi due to financial mismanagement by her charity, 'Raising Malawi'. The star abandoned the project because USD 3.5 had been frittered away by members on needless luxuries.
The investigation will be another setback for Madonna and raises the prospect she could be drawn into a federal tax probe in the US.
'Success for Kids' claims to have raised USD 33 million and describes itself as "the largest international social emotional learning organisation in the world" with offices in eight countries, including Malawi. Madonna who adopted a daughter, Mercy, from Malawi last year and a son, David, in 2008, has fired the board members of 'Raising Malawi' and assigned a executives including her manager Guy Oseary.
