Amid fears the April 29 royal wedding could be targeted by dissident Irish republicans, Al Qaeda or other groups, anti-terror chiefs are planning their most rigorous security operation to date.
Guests at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding might go through nine separate security checks as fear of terror attacks amounts with the big day coming closer, reports the Daily Express.
The police also fears the Prince and his bride could be a target for anarchist groups following the attack on the car ferrying Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall in December.
VIPs from across the globe will be asked to arrive three hours before the wedding at Westminster Abbey and the checks they face will include three at gunpoint. They will also be briefed on what to do if a bomb goes off or there is a Mumbai-style machine-gun attack. Royal Household officials have divided the 1,900 guests into small groups that will meet at 8 am at hotels and other points dotted around central London.

Middleton home is up for sale
London: The home in which Prince William’s fia-ncee Kate Middleton lived as a child is to be auctioned, a media report said Monday. The Telegraph reported that Kate Middleton spent the first 13 years of her life at the four-bedroomed villa in the village of Bradfield Southend, Berks. The semi-detached Victorian home is currently leased to tenants, but the owners have decided to sell it.
“It’s always possible that someone will buy it as an investment, because if Kate becomes queen someone might even want to open it as a museum one day and charge people to see it,” Dudley Singleton, the auctioneer handling the sale, was quoted as saying. “Someone could look to buy it as a holiday let, but if it sells to someone who just wants it as their home I’m not sure the royal connection will attract a huge premium.” —IANS
