After being led to believe that Sarah Jane Dias will be making her debut with the Abhishek Bachchan-starrer Game, it may come as a bit of a surprise to filmgoers that the former Miss India has already had a big screen outing in a Tamil film called Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai which released early in 2010.
The film was a remake of Ranbir Kapoor’s Bachna Ae Haseeno and had South star Vishal in the lead.
When asked, Sarah admits that she had acted in that film. But she insists that she hasn’t tried to hide any facts.
“Why should I? The film will be close to my heart. It was a success and I got some good reviews for it as well. It’s just that I didn’t do any films down South after that. I was entirely focused on Game,” she says.
Well, she may not have hidden the facts, but we wonder if Sarah has ever heard of lying by omission.
And maybe the cover-up may have something to do with the fact that while she has a glamorous lead role in Game, opposite the junior Bachchan, in Theeradha she was just one of the three actresses opposite Vishal. (The other two were Neetu Chandra and Tanushree Dutta, hardly A-list company). But Sarah is open to doing more regional cinema in the future.
“Never say never,” she says.
“Although I would like to take things one step at a time. I don’t see myself shooting for Hindi as well as regional films simultaneously. I don’t want to do multiple things at the same time because I am not capable of playing two characters at the same time. Maybe, some day, I would have the talent to do that but at the moment I don’t think I can do justice to multi tasking.”
From the sound of it, this girl certainly has her “game” planned out well. And considering the competitive world of Bollywood, that’s a smart move.
